The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of billing within the occupational health department, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and optimizing revenue cycle processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing procedures, familiarity with occupational health services and worker’s compensation, with expertise in navigating insurance protocols and compliance standards. This position requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. As an Occupational Health Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial health of the organization by minimizing billing errors, reducing claim denials, and fostering positive relationships with insurance carriers and patients alike. Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and process billing for occupational health services accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare and submit insurance claims, ensuring compliance with all regulations and guidelines.
- Review patient records and billing data for completeness and accuracy before claim submission.
- Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim denials, billing errors, and payment discrepancies.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to verify procedures, diagnoses, and patient information necessary for billing.
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities and correspondence for auditing purposes.
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid claims to optimize revenue collection.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare billing regulations, insurance policies, and coding standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED AND two to four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical billing terminology.
- Ability to perform diversified clerical functions and basic accounting procedures.
- Proven experience as medical billing specialist, preferably within occupational health.
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT coding, and OSHA regulations related to occupational health.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple billing tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
